Mould-making, cleaning, casting, carving, gesso re-cutting, gilding, and toning....just some of the processes involved in restoring a damaged frame to its original glory.
We are pleased to examine any frame restoration project brought to our showroom free of charge. This initial examination allows us to look the the project with you, to identify its age, how it was made, and its current condition. At this examination we indicate options for the restoration. At this time you can choose to proceed with a thorough examination which will provide a precise estimation of the cost to restore your frame. If, after receiving this estimate, you decide to go forward and have us complete the project, there will still be no charge for our examination. If, however, you choose not to continue, there will be a modest examination fee.

Original Designs
"Defamation" a recent project executed for the exhibit "Masters of the Gilding Arts" for the Society of Gilders 20th Annual Conference at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC. It is a carved and gilded basswood frame surrounding an icon painted in egg tempera on a gilded and embossed background. The text in the background is a quote from Buddha about what is evil in life.
